Why EVs Are Different
Four things about EVs that change how they should be protected
An EV isn't just a gas car with a battery swapped in — the paint, the panels, and even the range are affected differently. Here's what we actually account for.
Thinner factory clear coat
Tesla’s single-stage paint process runs a noticeably thinner clear coat than most gas vehicles — it marks, swirls, and chips more easily right off the delivery truck. Full-front or full-vehicle Paint Protection Film (PPF) is less of an upgrade and more of a correction to a known weak point.
Heat load costs you range
Every degree your cabin gains from unblocked solar heat is a degree your HVAC compressor has to pull back out — straight off the battery. Ceramic window tint rejects infrared heat before it ever reaches the cabin, which means less AC draw and a little more range back on hot East Valley days.
Limited factory colors, unlimited film colors
Tesla ships a handful of paid color options. Color PPF gives you finishes Tesla doesn’t offer — satin black, deep blues, gunmetal — with the same self-healing impact protection as clear film, fully reversible back to factory paint.
The charge port door gets forgotten
It’s opened by hand, brushed by charging cables, and scuffed by fingernails and hardware more than almost any other panel on the car — and it’s the one spot most shops skip. We treat it as standard coverage on every EV PPF package, not an upsell.
Every Vehicle We Support
Tesla, and the EVs that share its problems
Tesla is the EV brand we see most often — but our protection systems are built around the thin-clear-coat, range-conscious, exposed-charge-port challenges shared by any EV, including Rivian, Lucid, and Polestar.
